Thinking about doing yoga at home? Six reasons you’re going to love it!
Privacy. Like any new skill yoga can be tricky initially. A lot of us start yoga feeling stiff, achy, and plain awkward on a yoga mat. How lovely to be completely alone the first few times you are moving through the motions on your mat. Sylvia encourages you to rest when you need to and, at times to move like you’re dancing, an invitation to listen to your body and do whatever it feels like doing with the blessing and guidance of your virtual teacher minding you!
Safety. It’s very hard to do the practice ‘wrong’. The only way you’ll do yourself an injury is by pushing too hard, or forcing. Sylvia starts everyone at ‘beginners level’ to gradually move the body in a way that encourages feeling soft and relaxed in body and mind as much as possible. If she’s introducing an ‘advanced’ yoga pose she will encourage beginners to watch first. Many find they are pleasantly surprised at their ability to at least attempt most of the class, as the weeks go by the body naturally adapts and everything becomes more accessible.
Time efficiency. Yoga ticks two boxes, body and mind. It can take an hour or you could do 10 minutes. Enjoy a stretch before heading out in the morning? Feeling tense after a long day? No problem. Sylvia gives you recordings of all live classes to revisit at your leisure for one week.
Distractions. With time and practice your yoga mat becomes your haven, your own little island of tranquility. We all suffer with distractions of the mind, the temptation to go off and think about something else. Coming back to awareness of our bodies on our mats in the safe little space you have created in your busy, noisy, life teaches us the skills to remain present and aware in life, not impulsively driven by our distracting thoughts.
It’s easy. No huffing and puffing, no breaking a sweat, no stress, no clothing (optional and surprisingly popular!) Plus, you feel really good afterwards!
It’s a guilt-free, low-commitment purchase, guaranteed to enhance your wellbeing … who doesn’t love that!
Sylvia’s online yoga classes are suitable for all levels of yoga practice, however if you are completely new to yoga you may wish to start with Sylvia’s Hatha Yoga Video to learn the basics. If you have an injury Sylvia will offer you guidelines on how you might modify a pose; if you are unsure just watch and listen. If you’re still unsure please check with a medical professional before attempting a pose.
To join live online weekly yoga you simply purchase one Tuesday / Thursday 1-2PM Live Online pass before 11am Tuesday, receive the link to the class via Zoom. Recordings of the class are sent afterwards and remain live for one week, practice any time.
If you prefer the predictability and polish of pre-recorded classes you can purchase Rise and Shine, Ground and Release or the Zen Collection.
